King Mufasa has gathered the Pride Land to celebrate the birth of his son, the new prince, Simba. The lion cub is playful and adventurous, and so one day his father decides to take him out into the Kingdom for the first time, where he explains the responsibilities of a king. Scar, brother to Mufasa, covets the throne, though, and is always trying to lead the young cub into danger. One day, he sets Simba into a cavernous valley, before triggering a stampede of wildebeest on the prince. As expected, Mufasa comes to the rescue, as he always does, but this time the Lion King can only save his son, succumbing to the oncoming cattle.
